Reporting a correction

If an office told you something that contradicts a guide, that is the most valuable message this site receives. To let it be acted on quickly, please include:

• The guide page you are correcting.
• Which office, in which district, and roughly when.
• What you were told, as close to the wording as you can recall.
• Your visa category, if it is relevant to the rule in question.

Confirmed reports result in a dated correction on the page. If you would like an acknowledgement, say so and how you want to be credited; the default is anonymous.

Questions about a procedure

Questions are welcome and often become guides. Please note what this site can and cannot do:

• Can: explain how a procedure generally works, what to bring, and which office handles it.
• Cannot: assess your eligibility, review your documents, predict a decision, or contact an office on your behalf.

Press, republication and permissions

Requests to republish, translate or quote at length: email with the intended use and where it will appear.
